We're here to help you get out there.
Colorado Camper Rental knows you might have some questions about a pop up tent camper rental, so here are the answers to frequency asked questions.
1. Will my vehicle be able to tow your camper?
People ask this quite often, so we have provided the 1999-2011 towing guides for the majority of vehicles on the road: Towing Guides. Check your owners manual or with your vehicle's dealer to determine its towing capacity. We have a wide selection of campers from 1250 pounds and up. Please see our Camper Comparison Chart on the Towing page for the Unloaded Vehicle Weights of our campers.
2. What kind of hitch and vehicle wiring do I need to tow your campers?
Colorado Camper Rental’s campers are equipped with seven pin round connector for the camper’s signals, brake lights, and running lights. Most of our pop-up tent trailers require at least a Class II hitch with a 2" trailer ball. The Fleetwood Evolution 2 and large hybrids require a Class III hitch, and the ball on the off road campers is a 2 and 5/16” ball. If you don’t have one, don’t spend any extra money buying one. You are welcome to borrow one of ours for free.
3. We have never used a tent camper before? Can one person set it up? Do you show us how to set it up?
Yes, a pop-up camper is very easy to set up. The majority of the time people spend setting up camp isn’t setting up the camper; it is putting dishes, silverware, food, camping gear, etc. where they want. The check out appointment takes an hour or so less depending on the camper model you have chosen. Colorado Camper Rental pops up the camper, shows you the amenities and how they work, and hitches the camper to your tow vehicle. In addition we provide a laminated set up instruction sheet for you to reference in case you have any questions toward the end of your trip.
4. Do any of your units have toilets, air conditioning, hot water heaters and/or showers?
Many of our campers have these comforts of home. Please review the Off Road or Hybrid camper pages to see the various choices.
5. What is your cancellation policy?
If you cancel more than 14 days before your scheduled pickup date we refund all but a $100 cancellation fee. If you cancel within 14 days of your scheduled pickup date you are responsible for the rental reservation.
6. Do I need insurance?
Colorado Camper Rental includes collision coverage insurance and provides this insurance coverage to you without charge. The coverage does have a $500 deductible. Therefore, the rental agreement states the renter is responsible for any damages to the camper that are less than the deductible amount. We do need the renter to sign a form saying they have liability insurance covering a non-owned, rented trailer while connected to the renter’s tow vehicle.
7. Do you require a security/damage deposit?
The renter is only charged for the rental of the camper. However, when you come pick up the camper, the renter will need to sign a credit card authorization form for damages. Your card is authorized for that $500 deductible. The card not charged unless you return the camper with damage, and Colorado Camper Rental determines how much the repairs will cost. To reserve a camper, we ask for 50% payment at time of reservation.  14 days before pickup, we charge the remaining balance.
8. How long will it take to pick up the camper?
It usually takes about 45 minutes to an hour to show the renter how to set up the camper, hitch it to the tow vehicle and sign paperwork. If the check out period is longer, it’s usually because the wiring of the tow vehicle is not operating, and we have to fix it before you take our campers on the road. For this reason, please be prepared and check your tow vehicle’s hitch and wiring before coming to pick up your camper
9. When are your pickup and return times?
Pickup times are scheduled by appointment from noon to 5 pm Monday through Friday. Priority for earliest pickup times is based upon date of reservation. Campers must be returned by noon. We tried in the past to acquiesce to customer’s desires to return campers as late as possible. In doing so, subsequent camper rental pick ups are complicated. Since the camper you return can often be reserved for pick up that same day, we have to enforce this return policy in order to honor other reservation pick up times. Colorado Camper Rental is open M-F 10-6. November 1st through December 1st, we are only open on an appointment basis.
10. Does Colorado Camper Rental do any service on other people’s campers and RVs?
Yes. We are happy to help you with your camper or RV. We can perform simple services such as install solar systems, replace or repair furnaces, water pumps, etc. We have an industrial sewing machine and can repair torn canvas and other thick materials. For ANY repair or upgrade needs, we have teamed up with Paul at P & L Mobile RV Repair. He has been in the industry for years and is a Master Certified RV technician.
